6 of the 17 world cups the host has won the tournament. 8 of the 17 world cups, the host has made it to the finals. This means that a little over a 33% chance that Germany will win it all and a 50% chance they will make it to the finals. After destroying their group (which isn't the most difficult) I think they have a very good chance and are a bit underrated. Germany has the second most all-time matches, brazil has the most.

Go Germany!!!

why not? Realisitically, they're stilll a dark horse.

I tell you what, it won't be England w/ their spotty defending and goalkeeping.

Well to build off that, Germany will now face Sweden this weekend in the round of 16. Sweden, if everyone can remember, played a horrible game against Trinidad and Tobago then came back against Paraguay and just finished a game against England which was controlled by England for much of the match. I guess if Sweden gets a couple of good set pieces like they did today, they'll fuck shit up but I don't see Germany screwing up like they did against Costa Rica anytime soon. I'm thinking Germany will advance to the quarterfinals with a win over Sweden. Word? Word.

Yeah.. I agree.

And certainly... that England game was terrible. If I was the coach I would have had quite a few words to say to them.

Germany will meet Argentina in quarterfinal, Italy (if they win Group E) in the semi-final and then the winner of the Netherlands and Brazil match.

This will be the 2nd time Netherlands meet the Brazil in the semi-final. Hopefully, we can see a rematch of the 1974 final and a new champion.:puppy:

love your picks, bdizzle

I'm with you on all of them, except I'll take the Swiss over Italy.

I hosed the Holland over Portugal pick. Doesn't really matter because I still have the winner of that game losing ultimately. Doing fairly well so far... only surprises for me in this cup have been Czech out so early and Holland out today.
